Our
Renaissance group includes a charming sleeping
cat designs inspired by a Leonardo sketch, a cherub by Raphael. Italian fede
rings and inscribed crosses and heart pendants.
The fashion for poesy rings reached its height in the Renaissance and we have
a large collection of
Renaissance rings from which
to choose. The literature of the age is represented by jewelry inscribed with
Shakespearean verse and inspiration.
Our historic jewelry collection begins with accurate replicas of ancient and
medieval originals from Museum collections around the world. We also create
modern interpretations and adaptations of forms, techniques and themes of
ancient derivation.
Medieval jewelry of the 13th to
15th centuries include pennaular brooches, charmingly romantic hearts and
gothic rings set with colourful semi-precious stones.
Jewelry from ancient Egypt includes
ancient rings engraved with hieroglyphs; inscribed forms for protection
and to bring good luck; the cartouches of pharoahs and the symbols of Egyptian
gods.
The classical world of
Greece and Rome centers
on the gods and heroes of myth and legend, protective inscriptions, as well
as the horses, animals and plant forms which feature so prominently in classical
art.
Greek and Latin inscriptions also feature on our wide range of poesy rings.
