Accounts of the history of St Valentine's Day vary. It seems likely our modern celebration is a synthesis of the Roman fertility rituals of Lupercalia, with the attempts by the early Christian Church to overcome the popularity of that pagan festival with embroidered stories of the Christian martyr, Valentinus, who died in AD 270 on 14th February.
In one guise or another, this celebration of love has existed for over 2,000 years, and its popularity grows ever greater, though one feature remains special to the feast of St Valentine: that the message, gift or card is unsigned or in some way secret.
dvb excels in creating jewelry containing messages of love, hope, faith and friendship, secretly, or less so. We have chosen here just a few of our most romantic pieces, which make exquisite secret messages for that special someone on St Valentine's Day.
